The group strengthens the foundation for future investments and security of supply.
Royal Arctic Line’s consolidated result for the financial year 2025 shows a profit of DKK 15 million before tax. This is a significant improvement of DKK 9 million compared to the previous year. The result was achieved despite a general decline in economic activity in Greenland, where freight volumes in the construction and fishing sectors in particular have been negatively affected.
To mitigate the effect of declining freight volumes, the company has adapted its operations and sought new activities outside the concession, which has contributed to a positive result. The subsidiary Arctic Umiaq Line has also achieved a small profit, but a clear improvement after a loss the previous year. The profit was achieved after active measures, including adjustments to the sailing schedule to accommodate local travelers, which had a positive effect on the number of tickets sold to the local population without affecting the tourist segment.
The Group’s result is considered acceptable in light of the economic slowdown, but is below expectations to ensure sufficient savings for future investments.
Expectations for 2026
In 2026, a profit before tax for the Group of DKK 15-25 million is expected. This profit will strengthen Royal Arctic Line’s financial basis for investments in the fleet, including new barges and feeder vessels specially designed for Arctic conditions. The investments will ensure the long-term resilience of Greenland’s supply chain.
